Arger-Martucci

Arger-Martucci, Big and Sexy Think tuxedo. Think stilettos. Think red fingernails. Classic sexy symbols. That's Arger-Martucci. Arger-Martucci began in 1998 with a partnership between Rich and Carol Martucci and Kosta and Julie Arger. Kosta Arger's background is medicine, a cardiologist to be exact. It's not such a far leap, from cardiologist to wine, both are good for the heart. This endeavor began with Dr. Arger as the winemaker. But over the years, Rich and Carol's son, Vince, has joined the team as assistant wine maker. Together they make a wonderful portfolio of very good classic Napa wines.

Perhaps the nicest aspect of Arger-Martucci's line up is how each bottle represents it's varietal. The Cab, as Nicole put it, is "a little jagged in the beginning with a bit of heat on the finish." just as a classic cab should be. The Pinot Noir a classic pinot. Do you love a late harvest wine? Try their Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, a beautiful representation of what botrytis does for a Sauvignon Blanc. The same goes for the Syrah, lovingly referred to as, "The Big Sexy." It is all a Syrah should be. Full bodied, yet food friendly (although Nicole says it pairs well with a foot massage). Fruit forward, balanced, and most importantly, bearing the mark of the winemaker. For Arger-Martucci that trademark can be summed up in one word, "classic."
